Cottage 3, Mt. Stromlo Observatory

Canberra was our home away from home in 1994-95. We lived in House #3 at Mt. Stromlo.

We lived in a cozy cottage nestled in the hills west of Canberra a stone's throw from the Mt. Stromlo Observatory where John was working. Features included kangaroos in the backyard, and views of the nearby Brindabellas.

Of course, no house is complete without its own icosohedron surrounding the bird bath. The backyard was full of exciting birds including Crimson Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas, King Parrots, Satin Bowerbirds, Flame Robin, Silvereye, and the very noisy Sulphur-crested cockatoos which could drown out a phone-conversation.

And don't forget the high quality transportation. Feel the excitment as you negotiate winding mountain roads! Or see the wheelie bin in action for even more excitement!

House #3 survived the January, 2003 bush fires, unfortunately, Mt. Stromlo did not.

More information about the devastation caused by the fires.
