Bird Bath Icosohedron at Cottage 3, Mt. Stromlo Observatory

We lived in a cozy cottage nestled in the hills west of Canberra a stone's throw from the Mt. Stromlo Observatory where John was working. Features included kangaroos in the backyard, and views of the nearby Brindabellas.

We had built a larger version of the icosohedron back at Caltech for Moles in Space, and had another one in our Pasadena house, so, of course, we had to make another one for Mt. Stromlo.

The backyard was full of exciting birds including Crimson Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas, King Parrots, Satin Bowerbirds, Flame Robin, Silvereye, and the very noisy Sulphur-crested cockatoos which could drown out a phone-conversation.
