Hadada Ibis (Bostrychia hagedash)

Tanzania, July, 2016

Before our trip to Tanzania, we read Nicholas Drayson's cute fiction novel, A Guide to the Birds of East Africa. Hadadas play a significant role in the plot, so we were on the lookout for these birds upon arrival in Africa.

We were thrilled to spot our first one on a walk around Lake Diluti Lodge on our first afternoon. We saw them a few more times during our trip.

Hadadas again figured during my South Africa Birding & Wildlife Safari. They were an almost daily sighting during that trip.

This Hadada was hanging out around my cabin at the Zenzele River Lodge one afternoon.
