The Cultural Sites of Al Ain have a sedentary human occupation in this desert region since the Neolithic period and depict the transition of cultures in the region from huntin and gathering to sedentarization. Features include circular stone tombs (ca 2500 BC), wells, adobe constructions, and the sophisticated aflaj irrigation system which dates back to the Iron Age.
Located between the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea, the property preserves evidence of human occupation from the Middle Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods (210,000 to 6,000 years ago).
