We headed to Thailand in November, timed to watch the Leonid Meteor Shower in the middle of the month. We rented a car and drove around the country visiting a few world heritage sites before impulsively heading across the border to visit Laos.
We returned to Thailand and continued exploring by car, briefly visiting the Burmese (Myanmar) border. We returned the rental car to the Bangkok airport and continued our trip with a holiday in Cambodia. As we board our flight to Siem Reap we overhear a CNN broadcast announcing "The Khmer Rouge have surrendered." Ah, to live in interesting times.
