World Heritage Sites in Iceland
- Thingvellir - about 45 minute drive from Reykjavik - Hakid viewpoint: N64 15.327 W21 7.691
- Sutsey - might have helicopter over flights
- Reykjavik's excellent Culture House has a top floor Surtsey exhibit
- It may be possible to get to Heimaey on Westmann Islands by ferry from south Iceland
and take a boat tour that circles Surtsey
- The car- and passenger ferry Herjolfur has scheduled trips daily
between Thorlakshofn (pronounced "Thorlawkshoefn") and the Westman
Islands

By far our favorite choice. On the more expensive side by local
standards but cheap by international standards. Great sushi, great fish, good steaks.
- Strikio
Simple menu but very decent. Good choice for lunch.
Same owner recently opened
Bryggjan which we haven't tried yet but is more of a burger/pizza place.

Icelandair Hotel Akureyri We haven't actually tried the restaurant but the lounge bar has excellent small dishes and those are coming from the same kitchen! The lounge bar is great to unwind after a long day and only 3 minutes walk from the house. Happy hour every day from 5-7.
