First seen at the Chestnut Ridge Hawk Watch on September 23, 2012. We were novice birders, and the raptors were distant views id'd by the people manning the hawk watch that day.
We've seen "sharpies" numerous times since then, including snacking on a feeder bird in our yard.
The bird pictured above was caught, banded, and released during SMRA field trip to Cape May.
