Baked Tofu Recipe

  • 1 lb tofu, firm
Marinade:
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine or sherry
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
  • 1-2 tsp fresh ginger root, grated
  • 1-2 tsp hot chili paste (sambal olek)
  • 2 tbsp water

Preheat oven to 375o. Combine the marinade ingredients.

Cut the tofu into 4 equal slices approx 1 inch thick each. Place the tofu pieces into a ceramic or glass 9 inch baking dish and pour the marinade on top.

Bake turning the tofu 2 or 3 times during the baking without breaking it. The tofu should bake for approx 45 minutes or until browned and most of the marinade is absorbed or evaporated.
