Whenever I plant sunflowers from seed, the squirrels dig them all up and eat them. Not surprising. The plant above I started inside in a pot and put it out when it was a bit bigger. I'd like to grow more of them, but it's just too difficult with the critters, and it's an annual so I'd have to replant every year.
I planted this woodland sunflower, given to me by a fellow SMRA board member in June, 2023. It's meant to be tolerant of a variety of soil conditions and part shade. I put it near the front wall where I recently pulled up a lot of invasive English ivy.
