Ligularia (Ligularia dentata)

August 5, 2014

This flowering plant was one of the first I noticed growing in the front yard shortly after moving into the house. I initially thought it was Ragwort, but a neighbor ID'd it as Ligularia. It may be a native, and is shade tolerant.

It readily propagates itself and I now have heaps of it growing all over the front yard. It begins to bloom in late July/early August. It has nice big leaves that look pretty, but if it's a dry summer it requires watering.
