Purple Poppy Mallow (Callirhoe involucrata)

Purchased one at Hilltop Nursery in Croton July 1, 2022. Note the two differently shaped leaves on the plant.

Mounding perennial native to dry soils of the East and Midwest US. It was labelled as "catepillar candy" with a note that checkered skippers will lay eggs in late summer and the caterpillars will hibernate over winter in nests made from leaves.

Planted one in the upper north side tier on July 2, 2022. It's been a super hot summer so far and I've been watering frequently. It's still alive about a month later.
